IGNOU Organizes Induction Ceremony at GDC Akhnoor  
 

    

Akhnoor, 25 January, 2012: Yet newly established IGNOU Study Centre at Degree College Akhnoor, organized induction ceremony for January session here on Wednesday. Students admitted in various courses at Indira Gandhi National University (IGNOU) in January 2012 session were formally inducted in University in an impressive function.

Assistant Regional Director IGNOU, Jammu, Vikram Singh, detailed the students and councillors about the flexible, students' friendly but quality education at People's University (IGNOU). He appreciated the study centre at college to admit good number of students in a short span of time. Principal Degree College, Akhnoor Dr. Kaushal Samotra, who presided over the function, appreciated IGNOU for setting up Study Centre in this border town. She said it is great platform for aspirants, especially those who cannot afford to join colleges and regular studies to get the benefits of the facility.

Prof. Kuldeep Sharma, Head of Physics Department, who also spoke on the occasion, said the college shall render all sort of support to students of IGNOU except compromising quality education and examinations hence enable them to compete at various levels to secure jobs.

Earlier, Prof. Sanjay Kotwal, Co-ordinator of IGNOU Study Centre at College, introduced the audience about the study centre and initial courses offered through this centre. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr. Yashpaul Sharma, Prof. Sushma Bala and Dr. Ashaq Malik. A large number of newly admitted students, councillors and staff members attended this program. Later the study materials were distributed among the newly inducted students.
