Akhnoor, 31 January, 2012: Five days training in Disaster Management by Civil Defense Department, commenced at Govt Degree College Akhnoor on Monday.
Vijay Khajuria, Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Jammu inaugurated this 5 days training being organized and hosted by the Red Cross Unit of College. In his inaugural speech, Khajuria explained the history and pertinence of Civil Defense to the society today.
A two minutes Mohan Berth was also observed to pay homage to the father of nation on death anniversary just before the inaugural session.
Sh. Shashi Kohli, Deputy Division warden, Jammu and Sh. Bimal Gupta, post warden, Civil Defence also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Prof. Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Vice Principal of College, welcomed the guests. Dr. M. Ashaq Malik, Co-ordinator of Red Cross Unit of College, conducted the proceeding of program whereas Prof. Sanjay Kotwal presented vote of thanks.
On the second day, the instructors Balwant Singh and Pradeep Kumar continued interactive demonstrations on various aspects of civil defence and disaster management.
Over 200 students and staff of college are seeking this pertinent training.
