Akhnoor, 1 Dec, 2011: Â Â While joining the global community in its fight against epidemic of century, Government Degree College, Akhnoor observed World AIDS Day here today.
The NCC Cadets and Red Cross Volunteers of College under the guidance of Principal Dr. Kaushal Smotra, and accompanied by Lt. Anjana Sharma, NCC Officer and Dr. M. Ashaq Malik, Officer In-charge, Red Cross Unit at College, the students took part in anti-AIDS rally in Akhnoor town. Â
Displaying the Anti-AIDS play cards, posters and banners, the students marched from main chowk to Kameshwer Temple in Akhnoor where they joined thousands of school children, teachers, health officials, Rotarians and other social workers assembled on the call of J&K Health Department, Akhnoor.
Block Medical Officer Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatyal delivered an awareness lecture about the HIV/AIDS and how youth can keep themselves, their families and society at large safe from deadly virus. Principal Dr. Smotra also spoke on the occasion. |
